I come from a practical engineering background with wide ranging experience in building and automotive work. I have lived and worked in the UK, US and Germany and speak fluent German. For the last 15 years I have worked within ventilation design. In 2006 I was asked by Green Building Store to research and create a ventilation department focused on delivering high quality MVHR aimed at the Passivhaus market. I had the privilege of working in Passivhaus during the very early UK uptake of this building methodology. By creating links within the Passivhaus movement and looking for best quality ventilation design methods and products across Europe, I developed a department which became a UK leader in quality MVHR design and delivery.

In 2016 I left to focus on remediation ventilation work. The uptake of MVHR in the UK building industry over the last ten years has led to varied results. Research commissioned by the Building Performance Evaluation programme highlights issues of noise, underperformance and condensation. Assessing and problem-solving existing MVHR systems is a challenge I find challenging and rewarding.
My method of working is informed by practical experience working with MVHR systems and products and an understanding of the physics relating to air flows, pressure and sound. I combine the benefits of modelling software with a knowledge of the inner workings of the available products. I continue to develop relationships across the industry and work creatively alongside people whose skill set complements my own.
